Statement of Beliefs
Our relationship with, interpretation and practice of our spirituality is personal and derived from the Law of Reciprocity and the Golden Rule.
Rev. Dr. Gregory Lowrey & Rev. Katrina Lowrey
Salvation is freedom from sin.
Most major religions teach this principle.
Jesus taught the method of attaining salvation.
We teach that salvation is self-attained by honest assimilation and practice of the Golden Rule – that it comes from practicing what Jesus (and others) taught – and is not bestowed by anyone other than the person seeking it.
Jesus then, to us does not bestow or grant salvation, he teaches us how to obtain it for ourselves.
What Is Sin?
“SIN” is that condition where you place any man, object, idea or influence between yourself & your “god”, spiritual source or connection, individuality, potentiality, goal or purpose.
Thus, one can only sin against oneself.
We do not advocate a belief in a creative force so weak as to be able to be sinned against by the thing created.
Sin is reversed by a change of heart, mind, behavior and restitution.
The Law of Reciprocity
The Law of Reciprocity is also known popularly as the Law of Karma which reflects Jesus' teaching, “even as ye sow, so shall ye reap” or even more commonly - “what goes around, comes around”, “If you want to play – you got to pay”, “There is no Free Ride”, etc.
This is a natural law
The Golden Rule
We have included “the Golden Rule” (look under “scriptures” in the menu) as taught in a number of other religions for your instruction and benefit. Please do not be put off the mark by my choice of discipleship. It is the principle that is important, not the source. A universal truth will be exclusive to no one and will apply equally to everyone.
The Golden Rule says that “as ye would that your neighbor should do unto you, do ye so even unto them”.
This Universal Rule of Human Behavior simply means to “treat other people as you would be treated.”
As Jesus said in Matthew 7:12
Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for THIS IS the LAW and the PROPHETS. (caps added for emphasis)
How much more definitive could Jesus be about his message!
This (vs. 12) is the foundation and full meaning of the law and of all the legitimate teachings of all the prophets. If any teaching departs from this one teaching of Jesus – it is not legitimate.
Matthew 10:24 The disciple is not above [his] master, nor the servant above his lord. Thus any who purport to be disciples of Jesus cannot put forward teachings which contradict what he claims is the foundation of all law. (Matthew 7:12)
This one principle also allows us easily to discern what in the written record was actually taught by Jesus and what words were later put into the mouth of Jesus as propaganda to meet the political aims of others.
Jesus proclaims in Matthew 11:30 For my yoke [is] easy, and my burden is light.
What wonderful news!
The true gospel of Jesus is simple to understand and easy to follow.
Those who would burden you with a difficult, complex, prohibitive and expensive religion are not teaching the religion that Jesus taught.
